1. Acceptance of the Terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Wurdella, including its website, word games, accounts, profiles, multiplayer features, team play, scores, leaderboards, articles and support tools. By accessing or using Wurdella, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use Wurdella. If you use Wurdella on behalf of a school, business or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.
2. About Wurdella
Wurdella is a family-friendly browser-based word-guessing game created by Rósa Amelía Árnadóttir and Mikah Curtisson. It offers guest play, difficulty levels, a Daily Challenge, multiplayer and team formats, clues, scoring and related word-game content.
Features may be introduced gradually. A feature described on the website may be limited, in testing, browser-specific or unavailable in some locations or on some devices.
3. Eligibility and age requirements
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. Children under 13 should play as guests or use an account created and supervised by a parent, legal guardian or authorized school. A child under 13 must not independently submit an email address or create an unsupervised account.
Parents, guardians and schools are responsible for deciding whether Wurdella is appropriate for a child, supervising multiplayer invitations and ensuring that usernames do not reveal a child’s full name, school, precise location or other private information.
4. Accounts and account security
When account features are available, you must provide accurate information, protect your login credentials and promptly notify Wurdella if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Do not share passwords, impersonate another person, create accounts for abuse, or attempt to access another player’s account. Wurdella may require email verification, password resets or additional security checks before restoring access or making account changes.
5. Guest play
Wurdella may allow play without an account. Guest progress, preferences and scores may be stored only in the browser being used and may be lost if browser storage is cleared, the browser is changed or the device is replaced.
Guest play does not guarantee permanent score history, cross-device synchronization, recovery or eligibility for verified public rankings.
6. Game rules and scoring
Players must follow the rules displayed for the selected mode and difficulty. Wurdella may use colored or patterned tile feedback, limited guesses, clues, timers, point deductions, round-win targets and difficulty-specific word lists.
Scoring rules may vary by mode and may change as Wurdella is improved. Local browser scores are not necessarily verified global scores. Wurdella may correct, remove or decline to publish a score that is inaccurate, duplicated, corrupted, manipulated or unsupported by sufficient game data.
7. Multiplayer and team play
Multiplayer and team features are intended for friendly competition. Match invitations should be shared only with people you intend to invite. You are responsible for names, team labels and other information you enter into a match.
Connections may be interrupted, players may leave, and matches may fail to synchronize or save. Unless Wurdella expressly states otherwise, a match result is not guaranteed to be permanent, recoverable or suitable for prizes, gambling, formal competitions or other high-stakes uses.
8. Usernames and user conduct
Usernames, team names and other public-facing text must not be unlawful, threatening, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, harassing, privacy-invasive or designed to impersonate another person or organization.
You must not use Wurdella to bully, solicit personal information from children, distribute spam, promote illegal activity, interfere with other players or evade safety measures. Wurdella may change, hide or remove a username or other text that violates these Terms.
9. Cheating, bots and score manipulation
You must not use bots, scripts, automated solvers, modified clients, unauthorized browser tools, multiple coordinated accounts or other methods to manipulate guesses, scores, streaks, rankings, match results or Daily Challenge records.
You must not exploit bugs, submit fabricated results, interfere with timers, alter stored game data or attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, validation or anti-abuse controls. Wurdella may invalidate results and restrict access when manipulation is suspected.
10. User-submitted content and reports
You may submit usernames, team names, support messages, word reports, accessibility feedback and other content. You retain any rights you have in that content, but you grant Wurdella a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce and use it as reasonably necessary to operate, protect and improve the service and respond to your request.
Do not submit passwords, payment information, confidential information you do not have permission to share, or sensitive information about a child. Reports must be made honestly and must not be used to harass another person or overload support systems.
11. Intellectual property
Wurdella’s name, branding, original interface, game presentation, text, graphics, code, word-list organization, clues and other original materials are owned by Wurdella or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use Wurdella for lawful personal, family, classroom or workplace recreation. They do not permit you to copy, sell, sublicense, scrape, reverse engineer, reproduce or create a competing service from protected Wurdella materials except where applicable law expressly permits it.
12. Third-party services
Wurdella may rely on third-party hosting, email delivery, authentication, analytics, database, security or other service providers. Those providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
Wurdella is not responsible for third-party websites, devices, app stores, browser extensions, networks or services that it does not control.
13. Service availability and changes
Wurdella may add, modify, suspend or remove features, word lists, clues, scoring rules, modes, content or access requirements. Maintenance, technical failures, security issues, legal requirements or provider outages may interrupt the service without advance notice.
Wurdella does not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, compatible with every device or browser, or that progress and scores will never be lost.
14. Account suspension and termination
Wurdella may warn, restrict, suspend or terminate access when it reasonably believes an account or user has violated these Terms, manipulated results, threatened safety, infringed rights, created legal risk or interfered with the service.
You may stop using Wurdella at any time. When account deletion becomes available, deletion requests may be subject to reasonable identity verification, legal retention requirements, security records and backup-removal schedules.
15. Disclaimers
Wurdella is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wurdella disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy and uninterrupted availability.
Word definitions, clues, articles and educational suggestions are provided for general entertainment and informational purposes. They are not professional educational, legal, medical or other specialist advice, and word acceptance may vary between dictionaries and regions.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Wurdella and its creators, operators and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, lost data, lost profits, lost opportunities, reputational harm or losses arising from interrupted matches, unavailable accounts, incorrect scores or reliance on game content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
17. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Wurdella and its creators and operators from claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your submitted content, your violation of these Terms or your infringement of another person’s rights.
This section does not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer law and does not require indemnification for conduct attributable solely to Wurdella.
18. Changes to these Terms
Wurdella may update these Terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, security practices or operational changes. The Last updated date will identify the current version.
When a change is material, Wurdella may provide additional notice through the website or account interface. Continuing to use Wurdella after updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.
19. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer law in your country of residence gives you additional rights.
Before filing a formal claim, please contact Wurdella and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. Unless mandatory law provides otherwise, disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the competent courts of Iceland.
20. Contact information
Questions about these Terms, account access, privacy, safety or Wurdella’s operation can be submitted through the Contact page. Problems involving a word, clue, score, login or multiplayer match should be submitted through the structured Report a Problem page.
