Wurdella Clue Guide
A clue can rescue a difficult round, but because it reduces the points available, it works best as a strategic tool rather than a button pressed whenever the answer is not immediate.
Play Wurdella nowWhen clues are available and what they cost
Clues are available during the early and middle part of a round. This keeps the decision meaningful and prevents a final-row hint from functioning like an automatic answer.
Before confirming a clue, read the displayed point penalty. The clue may increase your chance of winning the round, but it lowers the maximum score you can earn from that solution.
Examples
- • A clue on row two can guide several remaining guesses.
- • Waiting until the board is almost complete may make the clue unnecessary.
How private clues work in competitive play
In multiplayer, the clue belongs to the current player. Opponents can see the shared board but should not receive the private hint text.
In team mode, the active team may discuss its clue internally. Keeping it away from the opposing team preserves the strategic difference between shared letter feedback and purchased help.
Examples
- • A category-style hint may help the current player choose between two words without revealing the answer to everyone.
- • Teams should avoid reading the clue aloud where opponents can hear it.
Good reasons to use a clue
Use a clue when the board still allows several realistic answers, the vocabulary is unfamiliar or losing the round would matter more than protecting four points.
A clue is also reasonable for younger players who understand the letter feedback but need a small meaning-based prompt to keep the round enjoyable.
- ✓ Several valid answers still fit.
- ✓ The word belongs to unfamiliar vocabulary.
- ✓ The round is likely to be lost without help.
- ✓ A younger player needs a gentle prompt.
- ✓ The clue may protect an important match lead.
When to save the points instead
Do not buy a clue when the board already provides enough information. First arrange the green pattern, relocate the yellow letters and list common words that obey every restriction.
Saving the clue is especially valuable in familiar patterns where one additional test word can distinguish the remaining possibilities without sacrificing points.
Examples
- • If four letters are fixed and only one common word fits, submit it without a clue.
- • If two words differ by one untested letter, use a valid test word before paying for help.
Put the strategy into practice
The fastest way to remember a strategy is to use it in a real round. Play solo to practise at your own pace, then try multiplayer or team mode when you are ready to add competition.
